Iron Ore is 94% of all global mining at 3,040,000,000 tonnes. Lithium is 0.00003% or 97,500 tonnes.

A surprising reality check on mining.

Rob Llewellyn of Everything Electric fame You Tube video, (minute 2.40 to minute 7.00) puts a data backed argument putting the mining of Lithium, Nickel and Cobalt in a realistic perspective . Here.

I´d recommend subscription to his channel, (if not already). This particular video 22.00 mins in all also has other watch worthy parts too. (Sodium batteries, Heat pumps etc).

If you are like me, you are starting to realise just how good the super wealthy, unlimited marketing communications budget fossil fuel industry and its supporters are at creating mainly baseless emotional arguments within the (often unknowing) oil addicted masses.

The mining of battery elements are as you´ll see almost a rounding error. Iron ore is king with hundreds of mines all around the world! No stories of exploitation of labour, environmental destruction and pollution around this activity

Also the disproportionate mining arguments put out by big oil will, I believe, also get further debunked as the battery chemistry moves to other elements which are much more common and cheaper.

Electric Mining Trucks. I also read (but cannot find the article at the moment) on a large mine using electric ´´ monster´´ trucks to transport ore out of its kilometer deep mine. The electricity was created at the mine using solar/wind. Then the even more neat part. The truck captured more than half its electric energy used from taking ore out when returning to the mine face through regenerative breaking. So Cool!!. If I find the article later I´ll post it here. (or if you know it, let me know.
